About this course

Problematic anger is a common challenge for individuals exposed to significant stress, trauma, and negative life events, particularly among emergency service workers experiencing posttraumatic mental health conditions. Unresolved anger can have a profound impact on health, relationships, and engagement with treatment, often hindering recovery.

This course, developed by clinical experts, equips practitioners with best-practice techniques for assessing and treating problematic anger in the context of trauma. Participants will explore the components of problematic anger, its neurobiological underpinnings, and a key theoretical model for anger in PTSD. The course also introduces targeted assessment and intervention strategies to support effective clinical practice with emergency service personnel.

Course content

By completing this course, practitioners will be able to:

  • Define anger and differentiate problematic anger from typical emotional responses.
  • Conduct assessments to identify and evaluate problematic anger in individuals.
  • Apply a range of Cognitive Behavioural strategies to support the treatment of problematic anger.
