Organisations with staff exposed to distressing content require tailored, evidence-based training that aligns with workplace challenges. The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) and Phoenix Australia partnered to develop a bespoke, evidence-based learning solution to support staff who may be exposed to stressful and potentially traumatic experiences in their work. Recognising the potential psychological impact of this exposure, the tailored, multi-component training program equips TAC staff and leaders with the knowledge and skills to identify, manage, and reduce the risk of vicarious trauma (VT) and other psychological impacts.
This scalable program incorporates trauma-informed pedagogy, blended learning approaches, and workplace-specific content to ensure it is practical, relevant, and engaging. It draws on Phoenix Australia’s expertise in consultation, co-design, and workforce training for high-risk sectors while also reflecting TAC’s strong commitment to staff wellbeing. Through this collaboration, TAC is embedding trauma-aware practices and equipping staff with strategies to maintain their wellbeing while continuing to deliver high-quality services.
Ongoing evaluation is measuring the program’s impact, with early feedback showing strong engagement. This partnership highlights TAC’s dedication to staff wellbeing and demonstrates Phoenix Australia’s ability to deliver tailored, scalable training that addresses the unique challenges of trauma-exposed workforces while fostering long-term, meaningful learning outcomes.
